Access guide: Dalwhinnie
Dalwhinnie is a small highland village lying just off the A9 to the North of Drumochter, approximately 25 miles South of Aviemore. It is on the A889 road which follows the course of General Wades military road to Laggan.
Home to the Dalwhinnie Distillery which has a popular visitor centre open most of the year.
Services in the village are limited. There is a 24 hour fuel station and a cafe with disabled toilet facilities.
High up in a remote location, the area around the village is teeming with wildlife and popular with walkers and climbers.
The pavements in the town are in reasonable condition for wheelchairs. There is a railway station on the Perth to Inverness line. There are around 6 trains daily in each direction.
Bus services No.139 from Station Road connects to Aviemore in the North. Alternatively a walk to a bus stop at the road end on the A9 will enable connection with reasonably frequent express coach services to Inverness, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Services M90, M10, M91.
