Access guide: Carrbridge
The village of Carrbridge, situated below the Monadliath Mountains, 7 miles North of Aviemore has something to suit all age and activity levels. There are easy Forest walks, more challenging hill walks and off-road bike tracks. Plenty Munros to bag. An excellent base for winter sports.
There are hotels restaurants and guest houses in the village, with numerous self catering establishments.
There is a fuel station, shops and a cafe in the centre of town near the ancient 'old packhorse bridge'. The church and village hall host numerous events. There is a tricky 9 hole golf course worth a try.
The town is well known for hosting events including 'Carve Carrbridge' woodcarving competition and 'The Golden Spurtle' porridge championship.
Many visitors are attracted to the Landmark Forest Adventure Park in the village.
The Main Street is mostly straight and level with fairly narrow pavements on both sides of the road. There are a few drop kerbs but no pedestrian crossings nor tactile footings.
The street has been subject to traffic calming measures which helps keep speeds low. There is a car park in the centre of town with (normally) 24 hour access public toilets with disabled facilities.
There is a station at Carrbridge serving the highland main line from Perth to Inverness. There is one disabled parking space but step free access is to one platform only. There are no toilets.
Bus services leave from the car park in the centre of the village. Services 39, M39 run from Laggan in the South through Newtonmore, Kingussie, Kincraig and Aviemore to the South, and onwards to Inverness to the North. Service 37 and X 37 link to Grantown.
